WARNING: TV-MA RATED
The hit Netflix Show Squid Games premiered on the streaming service on September 17, 2021, and fans all over the world have taken an interest in the show. With over 62 million viewers since then, the nine episode show has become a record-breaking sensation and is on track to become the most-streamed show ever on Netflix in any language.
The show is about a group of people who are in debt and get invited to compete in a game to earn large sums of money and, if you lose, you are killed right on the spot. The participants take on traditional South Korean children’s games and make them terrifying, bloody, and ruthless.
After watching the first episode, I was hooked. The unique story-line that hasn’t been portrayed on television yet. Each episode got progressively more suspenseful and interesting. This show did a fantastic job at keeping viewers interested in the show without it being overwhelming as they stuck with one major plot line instead of having several subplots. Overall, the show was very enjoyable, and I highly recommend it; however, there is a lot of blood and gore in the show, so if those types of shows are triggering to you, I don’t recommend watching.
Surprisingly, watching a show that has dialogue in a language other than English didn’t make the show any less enjoyable, but rather made it more interesting.
