It is 2022, and people have still not heard about the amazing “Bird Clock” that was released 25 years ago.
From a poll, taken at the library at 12:45 on Dec. 13, library goers were asked if they had heard of the amazing clock. 0 out of the 6 interviewed library goers said they had not heard about or had ever seen the clock.
The clock plays a different bird sound every new hour. 12 birds including the American Robin, Northern Mockingbird, Blue Jay, House Wren, Tufted Titmouse, Baltimore Oriole, Mourning Dove, Black-capped Chickadee, Northern Cardinal, White-throated Sparrow, White-breasted Nuthatch, and House Finch, play their marvelous sounds at their respective hours.
“I think that’s really cool. It is very fascinating that that is possible. I had no idea that that was a thing,” said Nick Miceli, a junior. “Maybe for a bird lover, it would be good.”
“That is really great!” Avantika Sengupta, a junior, said when told what the bird clock does; Tyler Reid, a senior expressed similar sentiments saying, “That’s neat!”
Stuti Desai, a senior, had a lot more to add. “The clock allows you to hear the time without looking at the time. It is really great.” However, her friend, Siya Patel, said, “I wouldn’t buy that.”
The Bird Clock is a marvel of the 21st century, and perhaps one of the best things that has happened to humanity. At a time of uncertainty, censorship, and anxiety, perhaps we just need a Warbler to welcome in the 13th-hour.
