Do you feel like there is more or less social pressure in middle school rather than high school? Why?
“I think there was more social pressure in middle school because that is when you are still establishing yourself and making new friends but when you get to high school everything is already all set.” – Eldin Mezit, Class of 2023
“It depends on the grade, middle school was a stressful time for a lot people because their growing up and starting to see other people but once you get up to high school the pressure is on freshman and sophomore because their trying to make a name for themselves but when your a junior or senior you do not care as much” – Tyreice Dominique and Zack Barry, Class of 2022
“More in middle school because when you get nice toys like fidget spinners then you have to try to fit in with other kids but here it doesn’t matter” – Antoni Kokic
“I feel like, yes, there is more social pressure in high school than there is in middle school. Probably because there is more homework and assignments where you have to engage with other students. You are forced to try and talk to others in order to do group assignments and be able to communicate clearly.” -Ariya Afrazi, Class of 2022
“Yes, because people are more judgmental and that people wanna make their mark when they first come to the school. People wanna impress other people, but this is mainly lower classmen.
Upperclassmen learn that this does not really matter and start to act differently.” – Tyreice Dominique, Class of 2022
“Yes, but it varies. Freshman care more. Once you get in the school you realize it does not matter. If you are friends with upperclassmen you feel less pressure.” – Casey Robinson, Class of 2024
“Yes, 100%. But it takes a real person to fall under the pressure of others.” – Danny Ensign, Class of 2022
“No, because there are different groups of people in high school to be with. You do not need to fit in as much.” – Jaimin Shah, Class of 2022
“More social pressure in high school because of what we are exposed to in high school it’s a lot more than middle school and middle school didn’t seem as serious.” – Joey Delmastro, Class of 2022
“Probably high school because there are a lot more things that you have to do in high school and you have to have all your credits in order to graduate. They probably matter more now because I feel like you get judged more in high school but in middle school it’s just kinda like nothing.” – Jada Moulin, Class of 2024
“I do feel like there is more social pressure in high school, as your parents who have been working so hard just for you to be able to eventually enter a certain profession or your family, friends, peers because you want to be around all of those people during high school and you won’t after you leave. You have to conform to certain limits and be accepted by everyone.” – Ved Bathula, Class of 2022
“Yes, it’s high school. Nobody wants to be left out of their friend group and they don’t want to be judged by others they may not talk to. To add on to that, social media can be a big factor.” – Melvin Scott, Class of 2022
