Rocky Hill lost Fire Captain James Lamarre at age 61 to work-related cancer on Mar. 8. Lamarre served his community for over 28 years at the Rocky Hill Fire Department and was a U.S. Army veteran. Lamarre was also a Rocky Hill High School 1978 graduate, where he created a group of lifetime friends.
“Jim had a stellar work ethic, was known for his meticulous attention to detail, and took great pride in anything he was involved in,” his obituary read. He will be missed by many.
In honor of his death, Governor Ned Lamont has ordered flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset tomorrow, Mar. 18.
Calling hours are open today, Mar. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home. The funeral will be tomorrow, Mar. 18, at St. James Church in Rocky Hill.
In anticipation of the volume of traffic by those coming to honor Captain Lamarre’s dedication to his community and country, Rocky Hill Public Schools has rescheduled the half day from Mar. 18 to Apr. 8.
