On Mar. 1, the class of 2023 hosted a Dodgeball Tournament open to students and faculty. The event had hundreds of students from all grade levels cheering and laughing with and for their friends.
Some students were at the edge of their seats as Austin Bobrow, social studies teacher at Rocky Hill High School, dove and cartwheeled to avoid getting hit. Michael Dudis, Social Studies teacher, provided commentary for the game, rousing the audience. “The energy in the gym was electric,” Kristen DeLucia, an advisor for the class of 2023, said.
The class raised nearly $2,000 to support their expenses for events such as their senior prom.
The victory landed in the hands of the Rocky Hill Police Department. The Winner of the best costume was unanimously the “Fireball” team consisting of Marilena Vieira, Anna Leal, Grace Donahue, Taylor Fetzko, Mya Doyle, and Jordan Clemens. Their team wore black suits and reflective sunglasses, some modeling security guards and some the famous singer Pitbull.
Here were some highlights of the game:
It was a great sight to see students and faculty in the same room cheering for each other, especially after years of the pandemic shutting down indoor events. The tournament was such a success, the Class of 2023 will be bringing it back to Rocky Hill High School as an annual event.
