Student Council will be sponsoring the annual Red Cross Blood Drive on Tues., May 24. The drive runs from 8:00-12:45, with multiple slots available every 15 minutes.
Many staff and students have generously donated blood as part of this event in the past. The deed goes a long way. One pint of blood saves three lives.
Donating is especially important in 2022; the American Red Cross has faced the worst blood shortage in over a decade.
If you would like to donate, the sign-up will be available outside the cafe beginning tomorrow, May 17., or you may email Amy Rosenberg.
You must be at least 17 years old and in good health to donate blood. You must have also not donated blood 56 days prior to May 24. Height ans weight requirements for male and female donors are listed below.
Before you donate blood, remember to get enough sleep, eat healthy meals, and drink more water than usual. If you drink water 10-30 minutes before the donation, you will be less likely to expereience dizziness and lightheadedness.
If you are an athlete it is advised that you do not do any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for the rest of the day.
