The induction ceremony for the Tri-M Honors Society at RHHS was held in the auditorium on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 6:00 P.M. Thirteen students were inducted into the Tri-M Honors Society; Nine choir students and four instrumental students.
These students had to display leadership, musicianship, and perseverance in order to be inducted into the Tri-M Honors Society. These students also had to audition with a piece of their choice in front of the Tri-M advisor, Mrs. Quinn, as well as the president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer of the Honors Society, who are all current seniors.
After certificates were handed out to all of the newly inducted students, the choir students performed the first and fourth verses of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. The instrumental students had no performance.
Seniors in Tri-M who will be graduating were also recognized and rewarded at the ceremony with pink Tri-M cords that they can wear at their graduation.
Senior Marvin Odobashi, who had joined Tri-M in his junior year and became the secretary of the Honors Society in his senior year, was asked why he joined Tri-M.
“I was extremely interested in music and hoped to find a community of other people who also enjoyed music and shared that similar interest with me,” said Odobashi. “The new inductees share the same enthusiasm for music that I have, and that’s great.”
The Tri-M Society had not had an in-person induction ceremony since 2019 before COVID-19 restrictions had been placed.
“It was nice to finally start doing [these ceremonies] in person again,” said Odobashi. “The little performance [really showed] how the ceremony for the induction is getting closer and closer to what it was pre-COVID,” adds Odobashi.
